Bangladesh is second position garments exporter after China. Now there are about five thousand garments and more than five thousand textile industries in Bangladesh and about 4.5 million people work only in garment industry here. So, there’s a huge job opportunity. So, many people dream of studying textile engineering but it is not possible due to various adversities and competition. Because, BUTex is the only specialized textile university in Bangladesh. However, the number of seats is very few as a result many people’s dreams are not fulfilled. In this situation, many students don’t know the actual details of textile engineering colleges and universities in Bangladesh. My article for those people who want to know about textile education in Bangladesh. I have given list of textile colleges and universities in Bangladesh according to their rank.
Public Textile Universities in Bangladesh:
There are five public universities who provide B.Sc. and M.Sc. Degree in specialized Textile Engineering Subjects in Bangladesh. These are BUTex, MBSTU, DUET, KUET, JUST the best for the Textile Engineering in Bangladesh.
Which Public University is the best for Textile Engineering?
BUTex is the mother textile institute in Bangladesh since 1921. The maximum curriculum of Textile Engineering in Bangladesh is maintained by BUTex under the supervision of the Ministry of Textile and Jute. Butex have affiliation with BTMA, BTMC, BGMEA, BKMEA, BHB, BJMA, BJMC, BJRI, BSDB, BSRTI. Butex has seven academic affiliations with the seven public Textile Engineering Colleges. Butex have a huge resource with the annual budget of 190 Million BDT. So, there is no doubt to say that Butex is the better institute than any other institute in Bangladesh.

Public Textile Engineering Colleges:
There is seven Textile Engineering College in Bangladesh which is affiliated by Butex under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. These colleges are centrally regulated by the Butex university in a totalitarian manner, while the funds are provided by the Ministry of Textile and Jute under compliance with an MoU signed by the Ministry of Education. According to BGMEA Trade Information, the number of garments factory is 4621.These garments industries need a huge number of Textile Engineer. That’s why private universities come forward to recover this gap. But the number of seats and facilities in private universities is not enough. So, Private universities should increase its seat and facilities in the Department of Textile Engineering.
Which Private University is the best for Textile Engineering?
University of Fashion and Technology called BUFT is the best private university in Bangladesh. BUFT established in 1999 as BGMEA Institute of Fashion and Technology as BIFT aimed to produce technically competent human resources for the Garments industries of the country. BUFT maintained the curriculum according to the requirements of Garments Industry. Ahsanullah University of Science Technology (AUST) is also renowned for textile engineering. It is the first private university of Bangladesh which launched B.Sc. in textile engineering course. Recently, National Institute of Textile Engineering & Research (NITER) is doing good to make textile graduates. It is a private-public partnership institution.

Suggestions for New Comers:
Bangladesh has more than five thousand garments factory and more than five thousand textile backward linkage industry. But the seats and facilities of making textile engineers are very few than number of textile and apparel industries. Recently the government of Bangladesh is opening many textile colleges and universities for fulfill the demand of textile engineers.
As a result, around 85,000 foreigners legally work in Bangladesh, mostly in the export-oriented Garments sector. That is one of the most irritating issue’s for Bangladeshi unemployed students. But if you want to join the challenging sector serve the country by making the “Made in Bangladesh” tag; I will suggest you to complete Textile Engineering and join the most contributed industry to economy of Bangladesh.
Conclusion:
Bangladesh is one of the best RMG manufacturing countries in the world. Bangladeshi garments industries employ 4 million people who are the driving force behind Bangladesh’s most important textile industry. As a result, textile industries need huge skilled manpower. Those skilled man power can be provided by the textile colleges and universities in Bangladesh. The government should more take care of these textile colleges and universities and institutes.
